I LOVE ETSY

So Long story short, my close friends have a pirate themed party every January. This will be my fourth year going, and I have done all the typical pirate looks. I wanted this year to be different from the others.

I decided I wanted to look for a skull and crossbones Hair bow, I wanted it to look antique and creepy, but i came across this deep burgundy flower with skull and cross bone inside and thought i could work with that.

The sellers name is hissyfithairbows and she is awesome !!! She has some of the most unique hair bows i have ever seen, even zombies !!

There were a lot of bows on there i would like, she has a really cute beetle juice bow that would be fun, but i wanted to receive this flower first and see the quality.

So here is my review

The Flower is beautiful and made really well
I ordered it and it was in my hands three days later
she sent a adorable card with a hand written note
She also sent another small bow that i LOVE and it was free
price was resonable
packaged nicely
great seller communication ( i told her i needed it by the 28th and she definitely listened)

anyway im the kind of person when i find something i LOVE i want to share it, so for those of you that like sort of unique one of a kind things check her store out

underarm waxing tips

So I learned something new today !!

A few girls i work with and I needed our underarms waxed today ( i don't have anymore only wax) so we stayed after work and waxed each other.
The first two lady that was waxed had the shortest hair of the group, it came out well but it took a while, and the wax wanted to stick to her skin.

The second girl that went has a little longer hair and it came out easier, but wax still stuck to her, and she said it hurt pretty bad.
Well then there was me. My hair literally had been growing for a month because i never had time to wax it, and really had no reason to ( yuck i know i know) Since i had been working all day and didn't want them to smell any sweat ha-h i decided to put on baby powder before i got waxed.

This combined with the length of my hair made the world of difference. My hair came out so easily leaving none behind to tweeze, and no wax stuck to skin.

So i know this blog might not be for everyone but if you wax your underarms there is a tip let it  grow a few days longer then you normally would and use lots of baby powder and hopefully you will have the same results as i did

OoOoOo the pain !!

So we have all had pain at some time in our body, weather you are a woman and are having cramps, or if you are a man and have pulled something working out.

Well my dog decided to chew up my only heating pad a few weeks ago, and i was just to lazy/forgot to go get another one ( i mean they are pretty pricy now a days )

Its now 9:45 at night and i have killer cramps ( sometimes i hate being a woman ha-ha) and i have no heating pad or anything close. In my town the only thing open is Kroger and im not sure if they have heating pads.

so what do you do in this situation ? .....

I get CRAFTY !!!

I remembered this heating pad mom bought me a long time ago at a craft show that you heat up in the microwave and it had essential oils in it to heal and relax.

well of course when i looked to see if i still had it, I don't !!

this is when i looked up what exactly was inside these heating pads and if i had anything here at the house to make any.

I sew often so i knew i had fabric and that wouldn't be a problem, but i wasnt sure if i had anything to put inside.

I read online though that some people just fill up a tube sock and tie one end if they do not have fabric or sewing material.

I have also seen them made out of dish towels before

The one i used to have had brown beans and i know i did not have any of those in the pantry because i fixed them a few days ago.
Online it said a few things you could use as filling was
Oatmeal
Rice
Beans- pinto brown beans
flax seed
oats

well i looked and looked and i found some rice but not enough to fill it with, thats when i found baby cereal/oatmeal my roommate left behind when she moved out

I filled it up and then remembered i had some peppermint oil from when i do pedicures i sometimes put a little peppermint oil in.

I sewed it up in a cute little soccer fabric ( so my boyfriend will use it also) and now is smells great and works amazingly !!

I just saved myself about $20 and a trip out late at night by using my creativity and being crafty

sorry this blog was not about beauty but goodness it helped me a lot so i thought you would like it !

How to get that Glow

So One question i get asked often is, what is my favorite Makeup product.

Most girls would probably say eyeliner, mascara, or foundation

BUT IM NOT MOST GIRLS !! ha-ha

For me the one this i can't go without is Highlighter

A highlighter can do so many things
1. Can make flaws look diminished when paired with contour color
2. can bring out great features
3.Great for brow bone to brighten and open up eyes
4. Great to put on tear duct when doing a dark look to brighten it up at bit

And my very favorite reason to use a highlighter

Makes my skin not look so dry ! I had Acne in college and never want to go trough that again, but i did have beautiful glowing skin in between the breakouts.

now that my skin has canged and is so dry i never get that glow look unless i apply moisturizer every hour (not gonna happen)

so i found my best friend - benifit High beam and MAC shell

with these two things i have dewy glowing skin everyday all day and it only takes a few swipes of a brush ha-ha

But my hair won't fishtail !!??!!

So this blog is for all those shorter hair girls out there !!

(LIKE ME !!!)

So my hair is a little longer then chin length and I love my short hair BUT I can't do the whole braid trend that's going on right now.

We were bored on a long trip and tried and tried to get my hair into a fishtail braid and it just wasn't happening
!

Now here are some options for you with shorter hair

1. French Braid the hair back into kind of pig tales, or braid just a little bit to get bangs out of way, bobby pin and then cover up with other hair

2. My favorite thing to do is to take each side of my part and twist back that hair very tightly. I will bobby pin it in the back under some hair so the hair will hide bobby pin, its a cute easy alternative to braids.

3. Sometimes i will take step 1 or 2 and then pull extra hair into sloppy buns in the back of the hair its a really cute different look.

well hope you liked these little hair tips and good luck

Breakouts ?????

This is for those of you who get the random breakout and its not hormonal or Acne.

I am an estitician and one of the questions i get the most is
"I just got these random pimples and i don't know why ?"

First of all one of the biggest myths about Acne and Breakouts are it happens when you eat to much junk food or chocolate. While eating poorly can be seen of your skin this is not the cause of acne breakouts.

So what does cause these breakouts ?????

First of all Dirt !!! Dirt and bacteria can live pretty much anywhere and if it get in your pores you have yourself a breakout.

Things to check
1. Coat or scarf - If you notice breakouts around your neck and chin and these are not hormonal it could possibly be from a dirty coat or scarf, just simply wash these more often and the breakouts should clear up.
2. Pillow Case and sheets- sometimes this is the cause of sudden breakouts on your face, if you haven't changed your sheets in a while this is a prime place for pores to get clogged.
3. Dirty Makeup brushes-  When i was in college and didn't know that much about skin care i went to get my makep done and told the lady "yeah i just have the same breakouts over and over" She asked me if i used makeup brushes, i told her yes. She then asked how often i cleaned them i looked at her with the deer in the headlights look because i had no idea you were supposed to clean your own makeup brushes. As soon as i got home that night i cleaned them like she said and later that week the breakouts cleared up. Being a makeup artist that story now horrifies me that i didn't know to clean them ha-ha.
4. Touching your face - Have you ever seen people that can't keep their hands off their face, well more then likely these people have breakouts. We touch so much stuff and have so much oil and bacteria on our hands why would you put them all over your once clean face. I wax and always tell people please keep your hands off your newly waxed eyebrows because you can cause irritation and or breakouts. One day i noticed a lady would not stop touching them i asked " do you need more aloe do they sting?" she said no i just like how smooth it is, so i politely asked please stop touching them you will put bacteria back into you pores. She obviously did not listen and came in the next day complaining about the breakout she had. I said sorry but i told you to stop touching your face.

Sometimes if you breakout around your hairline it could be new hair products that you have been using, maybe they are to oily and clog the pores around your forehead and temples.

Another cause of breakouts could be the Makeup you are using, change that and see if it gets any better.

Now again these are not the only causes of breakouts or Acne but they are some of the more common ones.

"well i like her but i can't see her face "

Have you ever felt like this while watching youtube videos ??
well i love her personality but i just wish i could actually see her, its so dark.

Here are a few easy and inexpensive tips i have learned over the past few years.

  1. Natural light is your best friend . Not only does it look amazing in the videos but its FREE !!! only down side is, well unless its summer solstice it gets dark at night .  On great sunny days here is what i do, site my camera on the window ledge and film like that, this way the sun light is behind the camera and its making my face glow with the perfect light
  2.  Proper artificial lighting, i know your thinking this is going to be expensive right ??? WRONG !! what i did was went to home depot and got two painers lamps( the ones in the photo) $6.00 a piece and they clamp on to anything. I have mine clamped to my mirror and then i put my camera on a stand in front of that.
  3. Daylight bulbs for your lamps, i use mind in my painters lamps, but if you have just a floor lamp it would help the lighting in those as well.
  4. Vellum Paper- i use vellum paper and tape it over my painters lamps to help make the lighting look better on film.
  5. Camera- I need a new camera, i would love to have an HD camcorder but for right now i am using my Canon digital camera and it works fine.
  6. have an overhead light on if you have one.

Do you feel like and Alligator ???

I don't know about you but my skin has been feeling very much like an alligator lately ha-ha.

These winter months are notorious for drying us out, with all the heaters going and the wind a whipping everywhere its no wonder.

Here are a few products i have found to help  !

we will start with the face
my #1 moisturizer for my face is philosophy hope in a jar. It does not break me out but is heavy enough to sooth my dryness.

Moving on to the lips
my new favorite lip moisturizer is the Baby Lips- see my blog post on that review

Okay now we will do arms and legs
i love love love the body shops body butter- coconut scented
or Hempz original body lotion- it really hydrates and leaves you with a really clean scent

Hands- Aveda hand relief is amazing, its a really thick hand cream but does not leave you feeling greasy. Also it has a very light scents with a hint of citrus.

Feet- you guessed it Aveda Foot Relief. Just like the hand cream it really hydrates the feet leaving them soft and free of cracks and dry heels. This one has a menthol scent.

so there are all of my hydration recommendations, these all work great for me and hopefully you will love them just as much as i do.
